The much older Galarian delegate left Remiel's office in a huff, nearly slamming the door open and alarming the assistant outside as he stormed out with a mess of papers in hand. His pleas for reform had gone unanswered, and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. The prince of Hammerlocke understood his frustration; he'd hit his fair share of walls in the past himself, after all. But this was just childish.[break][break]

Sitting on the edge of his desk, he finished the glass of whiskey in his hand and wondered whether Arthur Timble would leave things be. Escalating things further beyond this tantrum would likely require some form of... correction. Just as he thought so, his timid assistant shuffled past the open the door, rearranging the unbalanced pair of round glasses on the bridge of her nose. "Mister Calcifet, s-sir? Is everything alright?"[break][break]

Remiel took a moment to set his empty glass down at the corner of his desk. "Quite alright, Lucia," He answered with an exhale. "Lord Timble and I simply had a disagreement. When is my next appointment?" He asks, gently pushing himself off the edge of his desk before he makes his way around it.[break][break]

"In an hour, sir. You're meeting with the Chief Secretary of the Treasury." She promptly responds, standing straight to attention with her hands clasped politely at her front. Finding her stiffness— and nervousness, for that matter— quite unwarranted, the black-haired royal pauses to examine her expression from afar for a moment. But this only serves to make her even more anxious. The effect is blatantly visible; and audible, for that matter. "Ehe.."[break][break]

"Very well. Close the door behind you, please." Remiel finally speaks, gently sinking into his chair. "And no interruptions until the appointment. I have some very important reading to do."[break][break]

"U-Understood!" The brunette stammers, swiftly taking a bow before turning around and nearly running into his pink Sinistea. "Gah!" The possessed teacup, too, is briefly startled. Thankfully, the steaming cup of coffee on a saucer he carries in tow, with ghostly levitation, remains balanced. Moving past the nerve-wracked attendant, Earl Grey carefully sets the coffee down at Remiel's desk before tidying up.[break][break]

The assistant, in the meantime, does as she is told and closes the door behind her. She remains unaware that Remiel is not doing any reading at all in his office after she leaves. Instead, he's pulled out a fossil to examine on his desk, reaching into his bottom drawer for a bundled set of equipment and his glasses. Neither of them, however, can expect what is about to come storming down the hallways of the embassy.[break][break]

In the span of stepping off of the plane, getting into her limo and arriving at Remiel's office door, Sabine had shed almost all of her outer-wear. The Hoenn humidity far exceeded expectations, and she is visibly uncomfortable by the time the man bursts from the door with his pile of papers. His face is red as he shuffles past her, bumping into the woman's assistant. [break][break]

Sabine hesitates if only because she's more interested in observing from a distance the brief interaction between her big brother and his secretary. A coy smile spreads across stained lips as she approaches. When 'Lucia' makes her hasty exit, Sabine gives the woman a disdainful once-over before making her way into Remiel's office.[break][break]

She has no cause for concern on whether she was interrupting his next meeting (or if she was, in fact, his next meeting an hour ahead of schedule). [break][break]

"Lucia, hmm? Is first-name basis a habit for your pretty secretaries, big brother?"[break][break]

The door is pressed shut behind her as she enters, and she wastes no time in wrapping the man into a warm hug. [break][break]

"It is so good to see you, Remiel."[break][break]

Remiel barely had a chance to pull open the drawer containing his fossil before another visitor barged into his office without notice. Moments away from sharply telling his guest off, however, the ambassador stopped when he set his blue-grey eyes upon a familiar, yet long seen, sight. Earl Grey, in the meantime, awoke and gleefully arose to greet her. He'd always preferred Lady Calcifet to the others.[break][break]

As the teacup encircles the woman, hoping she'll reach out to let him perch upon her palm, Remiel makes his way around his desk and towards her, in no particular hurry. "The courtesies here are much different than we're used to in Galar, sister. To operate without some recognition of familiarity may come off as rude to some Hoennians."[break][break]

And, just as he says so, his sister steps forward and wraps her arms around him in a hug. He's shocked to feel her gesture. Hear her words. For a moment, he doesn't return either. He hadn't exactly left Galar on good terms with his family. Assuming Sabine had been after his downfall, just as the rest of his siblings and cousins, Remiel had left without a single word to her.[break][break]

But something felt different now. Or perhaps he'd grown a little more foolish. Either way, he decided he'd find out as he wrapped his arms around her, too. "I'm surprised to see you, Sabine. What brings you here?" He asks, parting from her after a moment to gauge her expression.[break]

Sabine smiles, hand laid flat to welcome the tiny pink teacup as it approaches her. Once it rests, she'd wrap her fingers around, thumb brushing the porcelain surface.[break][break]

"Oh my.. and it's good to see you, too Earl Grey."[break][break]

But her attention quickly turns back to Remiel, because he is the reason she's even here. Her face falls from her pleasant smile to a pinched look of disgust in response to his so eloquently-put answer. She waves her hand away, shooing the tiny teacup, and Remiel's excuse along with it.[break][break]

"Oh please, Remy. To operate with some recognition of familiarity is to give these people the time of day. That, I think, is beneath us both."[break][break]

And then she pulls him into a big hug, albeit a brief one. The moment his hands fall around her in mutual affection she breaks away, offering him an awkward pat on the shoulder as she moves about his room, scoping it out.[break][break]

"Surprised, really? I'm here because mother didn't want me here, and I wanted to know what it is about you that's got her pearls pinched."[break][break]

Her sharp eyes draw attention to where she'd last seen him behind his desk, on the slightly-pulled out drawer. She glances back at Remiel, eyes slightly narrowed as she studies his face.[break][break]

"What are you doing here, big brother?"[break][break]

The cup trembles happily at her touch, and the ghost within melts into the puddle of ectoplasm said cup contains. The lady had always been a touch more... elegant than his master. As one who embraced her royalty with open arms, rather than distance herself from it, Sabine Calcifet had all the delicate grace (and firm grip) of a queen when she cared to need it. To serve under her would have been easier, Earl Grey thought.[break][break]

So, when she suddenly bids the teacup to depart, it takes no offense to the gesture. Instead it quickly floats off, placing itself upon a wall shelf shortly thereafter, beside a framed valedictorian's degree from Hammerlocke University. It observes their exchange quietly from there.[break][break]

Remiel, in the meantime, decides to refrain from commenting on their supposed superiority over all others. It was a tired, old debate he'd had with mother plenty of times before. And, while he certainly cared for respect and tradition where it was earned, he didn't think the people of Hoenn in particular owed them anything to hold the likes of Sabine and Remiel Calcifet in such high esteem.[break][break]

But alas, the conversation moves on to more interesting matters, and Remiel watches as she prowls about his office. "Mother has had her pearls pinched since before father died in that bloody hole," He speaks plainly, leaning against the front edge of his desk with his backside as he crosses his arms. "She simply loathes the idea that we don't need her— and that at least one of us actually got away."[break][break]

Blue-grey eyes sharply take notice her own as she peeks at the half-obscured fossil in his drawer. When that trademark Calcifet glare fixes on his expression, sending a chill down his spine he hasn't felt for at least a year, Remiel takes a deep breath through his nostrils. "Oh... this and that." He sighs, breaking away his eyes away from her. "Such conversation would be better served outside of such a formal setting, would it not?"[break][break]

Something about having her in his personal office made him feel... vulnerable, somehow. A bit of neutrality was needed.[break]

The lovely sibling reunion that Remiel Calcifet and Sabine Calcifet were having was about to get ruined.

By a Karen, no less.

There was a bit of a commotion from outside the door, the cries of the receptionist as before, when the door was opened a very harried woman stood there. Celia was still surprisingly put together but clearly coming apart at the seams at the same time. The slightest smudges of her lipstick and eyeliner to show it, the bags not quite hidden under concealer. In her hands was a bundle of papers.

Celia paused, for a moment, to look at the two. Anyone with sense would recognize the royalty from their own country. This only seemed to stall her for a moment, however, as she took a breath and it was more like a lion striding further into the room, closing the door behind her. The click click click of her heels a reaper's cry.

"Sir," She started, baring no argument already. She placed her papers on the paper- most of them detailing her missing son. "My son is missing. This seemed the best place to start the search." How many Galar natives could pass through the country, anyway?

"Mother is lonely, you know. It isn't that shes upset that we don't need her - well it is - but it's that she needs us more."[break][break]

Her finger trails along the edge of his desk, tracing the perfectly polished wood surface. She picks through stacks of paper without actually reading them, essentially rifling through his private documents with a lazy, disinterested attitude.[break][break]

And when her eyes fall on his face, when they narrow and study him with an intense scrutiny and suspicion, she is met with a Remiel-styled brick wall. He lets out a breath, but she can feel his deflection coming. It annoys her immediately, and she sucks in a breath to begin her reprimanding.[break][break]

"Remiel-- are you hiding things from me? From mother?"[break][break]

But before he might be able to answer, there is a commotion outside of the office that has been growing in intensity. She hadn't noticed it earlier because she hadn't cared too, she was far too absorbed in her own self-importance and presence in Remiel's life that she just didn't care.[break][break]

Now, however, the intrusion from outside had entered the small quarters, cramping an already cramped space. Sabine's face is flushed with rage, and she glances from Remiel to the woman who has wholly ignored her to interrogate or assault her brother with questions.[break][break]

"Excuse me? And.. who are you, exactly?"[break][break]

Remiel narrowed his eyes at Sabine's attempt to humanize their mother even further, the blue of his irises nearly eclipsed by black in the shadows of his office. His voice may not have betrayed the irritation bubbling inside him but, for someone like his sister, those eyes certainly did. If that was so, why hadn't she said it herself? He thought. Mother had been perfectly fine on her own when she'd sent him to that boarding school for four years.[break][break]

A part of him wanted to tell her; to accuse Sabine of being ignorant and foolish. She had been mother's pretty little doll for so long, and now she was playing right in her hands simply because she wasn't getting as much attention anymore. Perhaps this was coming from a place anger. Perhaps it wasn't fair to Sabine to think so critically of her. But he'd moved thousand of miles to escape the icy grip of the woman sitting in Calcifet Palace. His business would remain his own.[break][break]

Before he could say as much, however, Lucia was once again placed in a difficult position as another guest (the third, in such a small window of time) stormed through the mahogany doors of his office to present herself. The ambassador's sharp gaze shifted away from his sister to regard this woman as he placed himself at the corner of his desk and crossed his arms.[break][break]

Sabine would ask the question that was moments away from slipping out of his own tongue, and Remiel sighed as the stranger pleaded her case and cast a small stack of papers on his desk. He reaches over to grab them, planning to hand them back over after a brief glance. "Madam, I understand your concern, but you can't just—" He stops, suddenly, when he sees a familiar face on one of the documents. Then he looks over the sheet at the woman before continuing with pause. "You're... Andrew Blackadder's mother?"[break]

Despite the fact that Celia is currently staring down her prince and princess, she does not waver or flinch under their gazes. She knows she is an intruder and unwelcome but it won't stop her.

"Yes, Celia Blackadder." Quickly, she took out her own passport and offered to the other to prove her claims. It was unlikely, but Remiel Calcifet might have known a bit about her. It had been a small time news story from a little under a year ago. An entomologist vanishing abroad and assumed dead. While she had not been a major celebrity by any means, she had been well respected enough in scientific circles that the news spread within them.

Celia certainly wasn't a ghost. Just unlucky.

"The last I heard, he was in Hoenn." A sour look crossed her face as she said it. It was... a whole ordeal to go into. Her own father refusing to take care of his grandson... but, well... that wasn't really for the royal family here to concern themselves with. Her own choices had led to her being here, in this room, with the two of them and demanding information.

Sabine had grown up under her brothers cold stare. There was a rage there, bubbling beneath the surface. And, like always, the woman meets it head-on and unafraid. Once upon a time she may have cowered beneath his icy stare, flinched against his indifferent tone and deflective inflection - but she had grown up. [break][break]

Her mouth opens to challenge him further, to ask him to speak up and pick the fight, but someone else barges in to disrupt their conversation. She's the first to turn and address their new friend, and she does so with coldness and mild hostility. Remiel follows up with slightly more poise, objecting to her barging in.[break][break]

"Are we supposed to know that name?"[break][break]

She pointedly stares at Remiel, pissed off further that she had no idea what was happening. It felt like she was stuck in a loop, reliving a scenario she had suffered through for years - never being included in conversation, always guessing at what it is her peers are talking about. It results in her setting her jaw, irritated.[break][break]

"So you lost your son... and you expect us to find him?"[break][break]

She snorts, raising an eyebrow at the woman in front of her, completely disregarding her cry for help.[break][break]

The last she heard, Andrew was in Hoenn. Remiel slighty furrows his brow at the woman. "... You didn't know?" He inquiries, almost insultingly so, though he doesn't realize it.[break][break]

And, sure enough, Sabine chimes in with her own inquiry, more than likely cementing the Calcifet family as a group of cruel aristocrats to the woman. He blinks and shakes his head almost immediately after the comment is made, however, and hands Celia her papers back. "There's no need, Mrs. Blackadder. I was told he's staying with his aunt in Evergrande. I can give you the address."[break][break]

Moving to make his way behind his desk, he bumps his chair away in favor of leaning down to access the files on his computer. "I apologize for my shock," He adds, briefly looking up from his computer to regard the older woman. "See... you just missed a war. And he never mentioned you, so I'd assumed..." Well, quite frankly, he'd assumed she was either dead or a deadbeat.[break][break]

At any rate, someone had to have signed Andy's immigration papers as his guardian.[break]

Celia moves her eyes to scrutinize Sabine Calcifet. The look is one similar to how she scrutinizes her insects in her lab; like they are fascinating, disgusting, and still beneath her. "That is what I expect, yes. Since it's your job, or...." She moves her eyes back to Remiel Calcifet, expectant. "His job. Princess." And if one could say 'princess' less like a title and more like an insult, it would be the cold and clinical way that Celia just said it. Her eyes are intense as she listens to Remiel, yet shuttered to allow no guess of what she's thinking.

"I see. Thank you, sir." Her tone is still rough but lighter than when she had spoken to Sabine. "As it turns out, the government in Orre is just as incompetent as any other government." She does not venture further to explain herself. "But yes, thank you, I would appreciate the address." She frowns, though. "Might I inquire who signed him over to her custody?" She asks the question even though she already knows the answer. Her father. Her damned father was who did it.

The look on Sabine's face is picture-worthy. She glances at Remiel with a look of horror and disgust at the way the word 'princess' drips from the woman's mouth like something foul. She is appalled and at a loss for words for perhaps the first time in forever. In fact, she gasps as if out of breath.[break][break]

And rather than defend her, Remiel chooses to appease the woman and disregard his sister entirely. The princess slow-blinks, a blush rising in her cheeks at her outrage and humiliation.[break][break]

"It sounds like you're the incompetent one. How does one misplace their own child?"[break][break]

She inspects her nails, though her jade eyes are sharp, glinting with malice. She could be mean, too.[break][break]

The Orrenian government? What did they have to do with this? As far as he'd been told, as far as the files said, Andy Blackadder was from Galar. He was staring at them now, on his screen, rereading them for the third time before ultimately shaking his head.[break][break]

Pulling a post-it note from its stack, and lifting a gold-lined pen from his desk, the ambassador jots down the details Celia Auclair requires. He only pauses when Sabine makes her jab at the woman, raising a sharp gaze to his sister as a result.[break][break]

He doesn't need to voice himself. She probably already knows exactly what he means to say. And she's probably going to ignore it anyway.[break][break]

An aggravated sigh precedes his straightening in posture, turning his eyes onto Celia instead as he presents the post-it note forward. Hopefully, this will defuse any further argument in his place of business. "Edmund Andrew Blackadder the VI." He answers. "He's the man who released custody of your son."[break][break]
